The Australian Pavilion- Fiona Hall

Venice Biennale

Manuhiri (Travellers)

Within the work in this Pavilion there was many questions explored with regards to our natural environment the piece which stood out for me in this pavilion was Manuhiri (Travellers). This installation was a huge circle made up of individual bits of dried out pieces of branches and wood. These individual pieces of drift wood the artist collected on her travels. The shapes of the drift wood take on the appearance of mutated living creatures that have been damaged by the environment in which they lived in.
